I would have been pissed if that had happened to me. At least it lasted several years before grenading. Sigh...I recognize that head gasket...is the head still good?

Hey, Motero, looks like we know where there might be a set of front shafts, but they're for a Gen 1. P.S., they'll need new boots... Would you be up for trying Crown King again, or is that a "no" with the newer truck? It sure wouldn't be hard for you to get to from where you live. I promised a friend I'd take her for her birthday April 4th, I think it is. Everybody's welcome to go if you want to meet up.

Man, I have got to get the illegal dark tint off the driver and passenger windows on the SR. It makes going around a turn offroad a real challenge as you look out the front, then out the side to see the rest of the turn...but you can't see anything! Plus, the instruments are all but invisible unless the lights are turned on.

And just to tick off the east valley guys, I'm going to wax it. It already has the most obnoxious shiny stuff on the tires from the car wash place (free upgrade). Leather smells good, too, with the conditioner on it. I'm liking the thing, even though I'm constantly checking the gas gauge. Gotta love the xB for that reason...never worse than 30 mpg...

Body Damage is Cool
Lay that wax on there thick Johnnyb, and yes surprisingly the head seemed to be perfectly fine. I couldn't believe it, I expected the head to have a big puncture In it. It will need to be sent to a machine shop to be pressure tested just to make sure and it will need to be taken apart to have it cleaned real good to get any metal debris out. Brodie bought a new truck today so I'm not really sure what he is doing with it yet.

Did you start work today Adam?

The shafts have to be from a gen 2 Preferably a Later 2.5, Some of the passenger side flanges have different spacing on the bolt holes.

Crown king would be great, I said easy because the wife and kids like it better. My new Montero has lots of rock rash and both bumpers look like they came off a Montero that has already been to the crusher.

Next time any Montero's are headed out to Martinez Canyon I want to go.

yea me and Kevin concluded the piston didn't slap the head, no cracks or abnormalities that we could see.

Pa_Jero, brodie just told me he doesn't want anything to do with the montero anymore, he just bought a '99 Ford Ranger, he said he would sell me the Tranny for $250. I overheard him talk to his gf on the phone and he was gona take it to the junk yard and I told him don't do that and thats a horrible idea. So looks like u can get the head from him.

OK I give... I've done my share of 'wheeling in AZ and while the vegetation looks like stuff I've seen... I don't recall seeing it with that color rock + that entertaining an obstacle.

Where's that? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
