I see in a post a mention about a done light that works intermittently.

Generally Dome light failures in a Mitsubishi, call it most all Mitubishis is due to one of two things.
Very common the rivets holding the light assembly together settle into the plastic, this allows the parts in the light to loosen and resistance builds within the assembly causing failure.
The other failure mode are faulty door switches, this can be one or all on a vehicle.

Does your dome light work?
single choice

Gotta wiggle my door switch most mornings. I've even taken it out and cleaned/lubed it. To no avail. Not a high priority on the repair/upgrade list

I need to fix mine. It always works with the door open but not if I just switch it on in the cab. It's actually a bit of a pain so I should fix it

x2

My wife's Hyundai Elantra has identical looking door switches, right down to the little rubber boots that cover them. I might see if one from the hyudai fits the montero and then try to get some off a junkyard hyundai if it works.

I killed mine when I pulled the door lock fuse to "cure" a short that was holding the locks down and draining the battery. Key locks for me...

Both my cab and rear dome lights work intermittantly, although they usually only stop working when I need them.
