Just thought I'd throw this bit of info up. I did a few hours of research to come up with a fan switch that had a operating range that the 2.6 would be happy with. Most of the aftermarket switches are either 180* or 210*. I felt 180* was a bit cool for the 2.6 But 210 was too hot given the temerment of the heads on these things. Since the stat opens at 180* I feel a range of around 190* will be perfect.
On another note. The adjustable probe style fan switches control the fan by the temp of the radiator with air blowing passed it. IMO that is not a very accurate way to cool the engine. Therfore only a switch with direct coolant contact at the engine location makes since to me. Also in case of a t-stat failure, the fan will still come on and do it's best to keep the engine cool, just like a clutch fan would.
The answer was a $40+ painless wiring switch or a $22 fan switch from a '73-91 Honda (GP Sorensen P/N). It's operating range is: closes @ 189*, opens @ 181*. I figure even in the hottest days of summer the engine should never get above 195*. It fits perfect just in the front most hole in the lower intake. If you have a Temp guage, I don't think this location will work though because it is already being used.

I also snapped a pic of how good the Ford Taurus fan fits the trucks radiator. I'm only going to have to fab two mounting tabs for the passenger side of the shroud. I grabbed the stock circuit breakers from the fan too, so I don't need to install fuses that can unknowingly fail.
