chances are though, if it comes on when you put key in ignition without turning it, there is a wiring issue somewhere. often times, aftermarket junkies try installing all kinds of aftermarket wiring devices from sound systems to remote starters and if they don't know what they are doing, they may have messed up some wiring. your fasten seatbelt light should never come on just by placing the key in the ignition, only when it is turned to on should it light. you have a wiring issue, you need to roll up your sleeves and take apart your dash and look for anything that doesn't look factory and restore the wiring system back to factory configs.
