If you plan on welding in a new piece then get some info on how the right way to path up a frame and box iron in general. If I remember it right you should cut it at a 45? angle and any strengthenig patches welded on the sides should be diamond shaped to weld at an angle.


I will check that out, thanks. I was thinking of cutting a rearward facing point and then the female version in the new peice. However, may be a 45 degree angle would be better.

I thought more about swapping the whole frame after replying to NathanC and that kind of job is not going to happen anytime soon. Just too much to do these days.
