I mounted the filter vertically, but you could mount it at any angle.

My hoses are a bit less than 36" long, and my oil changes take 6 quarts, up from the 5.5 listed in the FSM.

Amsoil offers a kit that uses two filters, adds a quart capacity, but it is pricy. I like the single filter setup. If mounted vertically you can fill the filter with oil before installing it.

I did oil changes and light repair work at a Toyota dealership. We almost never greased u-joints. You don't have the time to it. The biggest part of an oil change is finding reasons to upsale to the customer. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> Thats why they are cheap and fast.
