I followed the wiring back to the underneath of the drivers' side rear-passenger seat, where I found two clusters of wiring. Because it's right above the gas tank, I can't tell where it goes, but I'll use a mirror later to further investigate. I did, however notice another open plug underneath the seat. It has 12 pins (two rows of six), but only two wires are connected (both black/white), and are heavier gauge than the rest. I'm at work right now, otherwise I'd take some pictures.

One more request, can somebody give me a diagram of the wiring behind the dash? I want to check if the harness for the RR DIFF LOCK switch is there.

OH, one last request, I promise <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> Can somebody verify the part number on the REAR DIFF LOCK ECU? I can see the part number on Ken's but I want to make sure they didn't change part numbers from 1997 to 2000.

I recall that somewhere I read that the loom comes up close to the d/s B pillar.

Make sure you keep all this stuff writen down somewhere.

I will be following the same route soon....I'll buy you a "mini-me" (1/38 scale 3rd gen) if you do !

Better yet, why don't you do a nice tech article with pictures.

Hey Phong, can't you create your own wiring using the diagrams created for the locker and skip the whole ECU hassle?

I kinda agree. When I do my e-locker retrofit, I'm not gonna mess with the factory ECU. It has to many limitations - you have to be in 4-lo and you have to be going under 5 mph, etc. I personally like the idea of being able to lock the rear end in 2 hi or 4 hi or 4 lo. Also, the ECU costs like $120. That's money I could spend on a different mod. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

As far as the custom wiring goes... I haven't ruled that out as an option, but I'd rather pay the extra $50-$100 to have a "factory" plug-in installation. I don't see the sense in running your own wiring when it's already there. It's not particularly fun.

Oh, and adding up wire, switches, relays, etc - it comes pretty close to $100 for the do it yourselfer's, that is if you don't have the wiring there already.

It is a fun project though!
