Short version.

-remove retaining c-clip inside hub (at end of splines)
-remove brake caliper
-support lower a arm with jack and pop upper ball joint (be sure truck is on stands first)
-lower jack fully and pop off the CV boot from the upper cup
-now remove a retaining ring just inside the upper cup (its hard to see, run your finger just inside the cup ans you should feel it. pop it with a screw driver.
-you should be able to pull it free (I say should because mines a rodeo, don't know pups)
