OK maybe we are talking about two seperate things. Did you snap an axle (as in between the CV joint and differential)?
Or did you break a CV joint?

The CV joint is easy, like I said. You simply need to remove a clip that is just inside the lip of the upper CV cup. That should free the CV joints.

But if you snapped the axle inside the tube then I believe you need to drop the front assembly (diff, mounts and CVs).
