If you wanted to remove the whole assembly, I believe you need to remove the diffcover and remove some clips on the axle. These should be inside the carrier so it is difficult and even then you couldn't just remove the axle. You then need to remove the mounting harware on that side and some pressed fittings. I hae never done this so its beyond me but its not a simple task to remove the front axle assembly.

My sugestion is to return the axle you bought at the store and find a local Pick-n-pull. The just remove the CV axle from a comparable vehicle, cost less, less work and probably better than an after market axle.

Somone with experience with removing the whole front will pobably chime in and help you out on that.
