I have a 88 wrangler with a 4.2 w carb. diagnosed timing gear in a no start situation. orig nylon clad alum gear had no teeth left. went to local 4x4 jeep parts store and picked up new gear set, all steel. problem is crank gear is thicker and covers key way not allowing oil slinger to be installed. Q: how critical if leave oil slinger off? I have one source saying ok and another saying not ok.
