Need a Spot

O.K. I counted the links and I have the 98 link chain. Truck was manufactured in March of 1984. sounds as if I have the right chain but it sure seems loose. Also is interesting to note that before I tore the motor down the old timing chain was very noisy. Any thing else that I should be looking at.
