well its supposed to be what it says 30 is 30" tall 9.50 is how wide it is 9.5" an of course the 15 is the rim size that it fits.

but mine are 30's and the actual height is 29.5" so they will vary.

I ran 30 9.50's on zook spoke rims that were only 5.5" wide. It seemed to work ok but the centers wore faster. My spare tire is a 31 10.50 on the same rim and it looks funny but will work.
If you go with Ford Bronco rally rims (like what is on my car now) you will be outside the wheel well and things rub until you beat it back with a small sledge.
I have been to a few tire shops and they don't recommend the 30 9.50's on the stock rim because they say the sidewall isn't "square" enough. Funny thing is though, <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> they really want to sell you some aftermarket rims they have <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />!!!
Go figure <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
Just remember, if you get other rims, check and make sure that the center hole is big enough. Had to have the Bronco's machined.

Good Luck <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

any tire company will recommend 6 - 7" wide rims for a 30x9.50 tire. and it has to do with keeping the tread flat on the ground. If you don't use the specified rim, you will either be riding on the center of the tire, if its too narrow. OR on both outer edges if its too wide.

obviously you would want as much of the tread on the ground as much as possible for traction.

30x9.50's work great on factory rims if you have a lift.
Run the air a little low from the mfg spec, because that tire is designed for a much heavier vehicle. I ran them for a year and they wore nicely!

I ran 31x10.5 mud tires on my stock rims <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The tire guys complained a little though when I had them mounted, they wanted me to buy different rims, but I told them either mount the tires or don't waste any more of my time lol...

31x10.5 is a bit excessive for the stock rims though. 30x9.5 should be ok.

I think with no lift on the stock wheels the 235s will look great. The 30x950 could rub a little and loose a little gas milage. I get about 22 MPGs on the 31s, I got about 24 on the 30s and as high as 27 on the stock 205s. Thats is after calculating for the speedometor being off.. My wife hated driving the Kia with the 30s, realy hates it with the 31s. It was hers for the first 60,000 miles when it was stock and she loved it.
Just my oppinion, Dennis

I like the 30's over the stock size, you don't have to shift as much! seemed like I could be in 5th gear in town before, now 3rd is fine.

plus there is a lot more available in a 30x9.50 as far as off road tires, and getting the rear diff a little higher is always a good thing.

you can run 30x9.5-15's with no lift, but they will rub the top inside front fender under hard bottoming and the metal gas tank breather line thingy that sticks up in the rear fender well. no rubbing at all with just the 1.375" body lift.

in my situation I had to trim the front bumper and pound the seam flat to run 30x9.50x15. HOWEVER, I was running F150 rims which have less backspace (stick out more than a stock rim would).
