I got this head from a complete 1985+ 22R engine I'm going to rebuild, The engine looks to be in good shape, but with high miles. It spins freely. I'm trying to do this on the cheap, so I'd like to have this head rebuilt.

When I took the cam off I noticed one of the cam races is scratched pretty badly. The others look OK. I'm wondering if I can use this head or am I looking for trouble down the road?

I've considered having the race welded up and align bored. Good Idea, or waste of cash?

Also, take a look at the distance of the water jacket(s) from the combustion chamber, too close? normal?

With the exception of the scratched cam race, The head looks good. The head is flat, with less than .003" variation. The water jacket ports are clean with no electrolysis, with an overall head height of 3.772"-3.776"
I measured the cam/head gap with plastigage the clearances are .002/.003"

If anyone has any observations I'd be grateful to hear them.

If this head is shot/questionable I'll just get a new one from Engnbldr.
