I've had the ARP stud kit on my 22RE for 8 years now with an OEM head gasket and no problems at all. The other big help is to keep the engine cool, even getting a few ticks from the red zone on the factory gauge can cause the head to warp and the HG to fail. Happened to mine a few times before upgrading to a 3-row radiator and running a dual valve thermostat.
