However, I feel my recent findings justify a new post.

Based on the following pictures, I think I can say without a doubt that I am pre-wired for the factory electric locker. It's probably safe to assume that you are too if yours didn't come equipped with one from the factory.

Here's a picture of where the REAR LOCKING DIFF ECU goes (behind driver's side kickpanel). Notice the green factory wiring harness:

Here's a picture of where that harness leads (driver's side rear wheel well). Notice the same green wiring:

Here's a picture of an ideal place for the wiring to exit the body. Probably where the factory harness is run. That grommet exits right above the driver's side rear coil; almost directly above the e-locker:

And lastly, here's a picture of where the RR DIFF LOCK switch would go (behind dash). Wiring is already there!:

So... to all of you who have wanted the electric locker for so long, everything's pre-wired (make sure on your vehicle before you order anything). Here's a list of things needed:

* Locking rear 3rd member (and minor housing mods):
- 4.56 ratio -> #41110-3D010
- 4.30 ratio -> #41110-3D080
- 4.10 ratio -> #41110-3D030
* New diff gasket #42181-60050
* Diff. Lock ECU #89533-35070
* Diff. Wiring Harness #82127-35100 (connects locker to existing wiring)
* RR DIFF LOCK switch #84725-35010

Of course, if you choose a different gear ratio than stock, you will have to regear (and perhaps lock? <img border="0" alt="[Satan]" title="" src="graemlins/satan.gif" /> ) your front accordingly.

Everything should pretty much plug together. I've confirmed that the locker ECU is the same for 1996-2000. My local parts department quoted me a price of $188.35+tax for everything but the 3rd member. That was with a 25% off list wholesale discount. That's roughly $100 more than if you were to do the wiring yourself. Let me know if I've left something out. Many thanks to everyone who sent me diagrams and descriptions. w00p! I can't really tell from the pictures, but it looks like there's possibly one more harness that splits the power and control lines. Without a locked vehicle to look at, I'm stumped.

I saw that and tried getting some pictures of that too, but just couldn't. On the bracket in the picture on the right is where the plug from the wire I showed you in the other thread ends. From there, the new wire harness splits into two and one goes near the top of the locker mechanism and the other loops around it and ends up near the bottom of it. That's all I saw when I was underneath.

The second "wire" you are seeing is the breather tube for the diff motor assembly.

Here is a picture of the Diff. Wiring Harness #82127-35100. there are 2 plugs and one breather hose

I hate to sound stupid but, what does this mean? I have a 2WD sr5 97, I remeber reading a post awhile back that you could off road a 2wd if it has the E-locker on the back. IS this what you mean? all 4runners are already prewired??!!!
