Are you building a buggy? Sand racer? Mud?

Looking at the specs for the Tremec TKO 500 transmission, you'll have a very high first gear. With the NP205, you're reduction is only about 2:1. You could probably use a divorced-mount 205, but there are not likely to be any direct, or married, adaptors as neither Noval or Advance list anything for that transmission.

Good luck. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

amigo 89-94
mainly street, a little mud(i tend to break everything i touch)
i'll be runnin ford 351 goodied-up. and i would like a good 5-speed. as long as itll hold close to 500 hp and 38" tsl's. i spend bout 50-60 miles interstate a day and want od. but if it wont work. or will be weak and break. i'll take a good 4-speed anyday. i guess my ? is what tranny options(besides auto) do i have? also be runnin chevy d44 & 10b(they'll be WIDE!!)

Rather than a car transmission, due to your short wheel base, you might check into New Venture 5-speeds (NV3550 or NV4500). The NV3550 is a little lighter duty, not sure if it'll handle 500HP. The NV4500 was available in the Dodge and Chevy diesels and will withstand your floggings. If you still need something stouter, look at the Clark 5-speed from medium-duty trucks. All the above should have bellhousing adaptors for your 351 Ford. All the above transmissions have had numerous write-ups in many magazines, check into the Advance Adaptors website for some other good information.

Other considerations:
1. With 500HP and 38's, you're going to pop a Chevy 10-bolt with relative ease. Use a Dana 44 or Dana 60, both of which are available as 6-lug rear axles.

2. 50-60 miles/day on your Swampers will kill them in short order.

The 9-inch is a good axle, lots of aftermarket support, high pinion dropouts, big axles available...WAY better than a 10-bolt Chevy. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

in peterson 4wheel there's an artical that says something about different size bearings in certain year types. you would'nt know what years have what would you? or does it not even make a difference?
