Does anyone know if the front buckets of a 2nd gen ('94) will bolt straight into a 1st gen ('86)?

If the first gen has/had buckets then it should be a direct bolt in, if not then you will haveto drill a new hole for the front inners and possibly one for the rear inners. The outer two will bolt up. You may have to raise(shim) the outer rear mounts for the seat backs to be level.

Yes, my 1st gen has buckets. Currently, it has recaros w/ recaro brackets, but I'm swapping those into another car and need to put something else in (the easier to install, the better) before I sell it. For the recaro bracket, I remember I had to drill a new rear hole for the passenger front seat; can't remember if it was for the inner or outer rear hole, but the original seat had the spring-loaded thing in the base that allowed the seat to slide forward so the rear passenger could get out.

I installed a set of 60/40 seats from a '93 x-cab in my last project truck('86 X-cab), and the outer mounts lined up with the original bench seat bolt holes in the '86, all I had to do is drill new holes for the inner fronts. The 2nd gen seats should bolt right in, you might have to enlarge the hole on the seat mounts, but other than that it shouldn't be a problem. The only thing that would be an issue(for the new owner) is that the passenger seat on 2nd Runner(4dr model), isn't designed to slide as far forward as the 1st gen seats were.

Other seats that should be a direct bolt in would be seats from the same era Celica, MR2, Corolla, and possibly the Camry. Seats from the '89-94 and '94 to '99 Celica and MR2's, and the Paseo should also work, but I am not sure if they are going to be a direct bolt in. The outer two mounts should line up, but the inner ones may not. The '94 Supra seats I installed in my '91 weren't a direct bolt in, the front holes lined up, and the rears almost lined up, but the of the rear of the seat would have sat too low, so I had to fab up some brackets to lift the rear about an 1.5".

If you have a line on some 2nd gen buckets, you shouldn't have a problem installing them, definately nothing along the lines of having to make new brackets.

You should order some CRV brackets for your Recarro seats, then mount the current Recarro bracket to the CRV seats, this would be the easiest way to do the swap.

My recaros were like that (both left and right bracket for the 4rnr are identical, so I had to drill a new rear hole). I'd have to just slide the front passenger seat forward to access the rear.

Did that yesterday. 2-3 weeks since they're made to order. Apparently, I'm the first person to order recaro brackets for a CRV, according to the guy at on-track performance. Prices of the recaros have really rocketed. I got mine for $300 each, new, back in '02. Now, the cheapest ones are $675.
