It sounds like I have had a stuck lifter and today I decided to Seafoam the Montero. Oil Pressure was fine when I was warming it up. I seafoamed it and a bunch of smoke blew out. I took it around the block to run it through and I stopped it. When I started it back up it had no oil pressure at all. I changed the oil and filter and I am still showing zero oil pressure. The gauge does not move at all. Could of the Seafoam killed my oil pump? Where can I check the oil pressure sensor? I looked through my Haynes manual and couldn't find how to check it. Any other ideas? I am afraid to run it until I know for sure.

I'm assuming you put the sea foam through a vacuum hose? If so it shouldn't have affected the pump. My guess would be a bad sensor.

My friend with me has done it to several of his vehicles. He had me put a 1/3rd into the carb, a 1/3rd into the crankcase, and a 1/3rd into the fuel tank. Maybe he was wrong?

The sender is right next to the oil filter. A round sender with a single wire. Maybe the wire got knocked off by accident? To check the wiring and gauge, have some one sit in the truck with the ignition on (not running) and then temporarily ground the wire to the engine for a second or so. The gauge needle should jump everytime you ground and release. If your up for making a little mess, take an empty coke bottle, unscrew the sender, disconnect the coil wire (you don't want the engine starting) and hold the coke bottle tight to the block. Have someone crank the engine briefly (be prepared for the engine to move some when the starter engages) and observe oil shooting into the bottle. This won't tell you how much pressure you have but will at least confirm that there is some. Also, if the sea foam loosened some munge and clogged the sender or sender passage, this should clear the passgeway. You could always go buy a cheap mechanical gauge and put it in place of the electric one for test purposes (or just buy a new sender and try it). If you truly had 0 oil pressure, your lifters would be clattering/tapping like crazy.

I would have to guess that the sea foam loosened some gunk up and clogged up the sensor or sensor passage. I have used sea foam in a number of applications from back firing 2 strokes to the lawn mower to cars and trucks and have never lost oil pressure. I have had to pull carbs apart and clean them though from all the gunk the sea foam loosened up.
1988 2DR 5SP 2.6l Monty. Balance shaft elimination kit installed. 120k miles. Timing jumped, pulling motor to see what needs to be done.
