Regarding the micro RV, highmtndesert has been working on a Campraider project for a while.

I've seen that one before. I was looking at being a bit narrower, and the front would most likely be in line with the windshield, no overhang. Obviously I do have a bit more length in the rear to work with, and may extend the back about a foot to get more interior space. I also will be making it walk through. I'm also going to have a roll cage for safety, and as a support for the body panels and doors. The rear will fully open up with a bottom and top doors. The bottom door will fold down to become a set of steps. The top door will go up like a hatch to provide some weather cover for the entrance. I've been toying with having both sides open up like that concept 4x4 van that had the drop axles. It really isn't much different in weight for each side panel to make it into an openable door. I'd need to stiffen the side panel frame some, add latches, lifters and hinges, and use a little thicker gasket. Might add 25 lbs per side. For the latches I can use electronic door latches so I don't have to make complex linkages inside the door. Having the sides open I don't see helping much during camping, but for farm use I can see where they would be very handy.

It's a nice little toy for the rich to run around and be green and cool without having to drive yet another boring Prius.

I think it would be fun to drive as a commuter and it looks cool and fun to drive. Practical? Probably not.

But if gas gets to be $5-10 gallon, I'll bet people would be taking a second look at them even for $29K.

My question is if it's technically in the motorcycle class, do you need a motorcycle endorsement to drive one?

Ummm.....Gas IS USD$5 a US gallon already here (~3.8 litres), and close to USD$8 in Europe.

Welcome to the situation for the other 6.3 billion people on this earth.

Most of that is because of your tax system. Not that you don't benefit from all those extra taxes. You're not facing 10 trillion dollars of national debt or some of the other financial problems we've created for ourselves, but I'll bet the base cost of fuel isn't much more than than it is here.

Plus you guys are wise enough to encourage the use of diesel. We haven't figure that out yet.

What percent of your average income does a US Gallon of Gas cost versus what percentage of our income? At $8 a gallon I would spend 36% of my check on 1 tank of fuel. I make more then the average worker in my area. Of course at 70 or more hours a week I guess i should make a litttle more.

Really...

My Opel takes $60 to fill up on base. If I were a Private again, that would be killer!

Good thing I can get 700 km (434 miles) out of a tank...

I posted a link to the Aptera in Angelo's poll thread. It is a little odd looking.

Gas may be cheap here but I still spend a ton on the stuff. In NC, we are forever driving somewhere. What gets me going is seeing the people in our neighbourhood idling their cars on the drive in the mornings to warm up the cabin Not only is it really bad for the engine (as most on here know), it wastes a fantastic amount of fuel (thus increasing demand and price) and produces pollution for everuone to breath. I really think most people do not (or cannot)link their personal consumption with pollution/fuel demands
