Before checking out the diff, I'd crawl under the Jeep and really check out the driveshaft. Try to move it laterally, and up and down, to check for worn U-joints. ANY movement is suspect. U-joints are cheap (about $20 each) and easy to replace, so there's no point in living with one that you suspect may be loose. Some people replace theirs every 2 to 5 years anyway. Check that first, and then get back to us.
