well I hope that you didn't burn the valves.
these things tick a bit it is the nature of solid rocker/lifters.
look it up, I don't feel like it right now but there is a cold and a hot setting, if you set them to the hot setting (cold) they are to tight. the factory service manual specs are for hot.. I have never figured out how you are supposed to do it hot. with all you have to take off to get at them.

also double check your timing. and since you have the valve cover off get a flash light and check your timing chain guides, you can see them from the top. a very small telescoping mirror about the size of a dime, you will have to bend it a bit will give you a great view of them. oh use the mirror to direct the light vs using the mirror to see them.
also make sure that you didn't miss hooking up a vacuum line after pulling the valve cover.
