Update: After checking the wiring harness and determining that it is OK, I re-routed it, and attached everything where it should be. Relocated the bundle of ground wires that were loosely attached , and the problem seems to be solved. Only an intermittent check engine light to deal with now. Thanks to all who gave their suggestions to helping me fix this vehicle. David
