Starter works fine, new coil, distributor cap and rotor. Revsfor a second and then stops like the power was shut off. Then will turnover and no spark. Does anyone have any ideas?

It fires off, then dies? And won't fire off again for how long?
First guess is ecu capacitors, just 'cause so many have failed.

Huh. Kind of sounds like a fuel supply issue to me if it lights off for a second, then dies and just cranks on restart attempts. You're sure on the "no spark"? If you let it sit for a while will it go through the crank/light-off/die/crank-no-restart cycle again?

Do you have power to the coil when there is no spark? If so, go to the distributor and check the four wires with key on and connector disconnected. You should see. 12v ground 5v 5v Both 5 volts should pulse to zero and back when cranked.

It does not fire off again for hours or the next day.

I pulled the ECU checked the capasitors for leakage or physical damage and could find nothing.

When cold, turn key to start and there is power to coil for very short time and then stops. As the key is turned off there is power to the coil for another instant.
When I have luck and it starts and runs, after warms up, then is no problem to shut off and restart.
Removed the ECU, all conections appear in order and no leakage at the capacitors.
Just before the coil there is another very small module. Is this also a capacitor?
Any Ideas?
