Is it possible for the sensor to cause intermitant starting or running problems? They said I must replace distributor. Yes..... this is why I explained the need to determine if you had "no spark" or no power to the coil. It's now obvious you had "no spark". As I suggested, the distributor is a prime suspect and can certailnly cause the issues you are experiencing. The crank angle sensor is the optical sensor inside the distributor. It can be replaced - or you can install another used distributor..... but if you do, get a warranty on it. Frank

The options are limited here. The sensor is not available. Used are not available. Have sent it out to be rebuilt in Holland. Takes a week and costs about 300. If it fixes the problem then I can live with it. Thanks again.

I suspect it will be fine with the rebuilt distributor.

Frank I have been driving it for 3 days no with no problems. It looks like it was the problem. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Why is it that the ECU did not show the fault code for so long when he problem has occured for weeks? Is it normal? Thank You <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" /> Patrick

Why is it that the ECU did not show the fault code for so long when he problem has occured for weeks? Is it normal? I don't know - for some reason, distributor codes seem to take a while to show up on the Gen1..... it's not the first time we've seen it. It sounds like it's fixed. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Frank
