On that same subject, you should check to see if there's any play in the end of the variable intake butterfly shaft before you dive into your project. If there's any slop, the bushings that support the shaft are worn & you'll soon have a significant vacuum leak if there isn't one already. The movement in the shaft contributes to the butterfly plates coming loose. Plan on replacing your lower intake manifold if that shaft is moving at all.
