Body Damage is Cool
When your swap the coils over pull out the #4 plug and see if it is fouled or realy dark, if it is it could be your injector. Aonther thing that has me thinking is you said it misses bad when you hit the brakes at idle. Check for a vacuum leak starting with the hose going to your brake booster.
Hope this helps, Dennis

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Weird... I came back to update my last post... but it ain't here?
Dunno what happened to it....

Anyways, I made time today to tear it back apart. I'm always looking for the real simple answers, which seems to work for everyone but me. My situations seem to always be complicated...

Anyways, so I'm going through the little stuff. I'm looking at the wires and the wiring, and what not. So then I decide I'm going to take a boot off the bottom of the coil to inspect that. And at this point I'm also trying to decide if this part is likely to come in a wire set or with a new coil. So I'm taking them apart, and what do you know, I find this broken tiny piece inside.

The thing is tiny... reminds me of a round glass fuse, except it ain't. It's like metal on the tips and porcelain or something in the middle.

I didn't even know what to call it or what to ask for. So I take it to the parts store and I show the guy. I say I need this and I tell him where it goes.... AND HERE IS WHERE I'M AFRAID I GOT DOOPED.... the guy tells me I gotta buy the coil to get that part. I can't buy that part, the boot, nothing... all sold as one part.

So I say whatever and get it. $55 bucks for one, but I gotta get it going somehow. I come home and switch it out, put everything back together, and bada-bing bada-boom it's fixed and back to running like it should.

Now let's see how long this lasts.

(I kept the old coil, as I figure it still works)

while you were in there you should have replaced both and the wire harness that connects to them.

Is your CEL on? Mine just started running like crap the other day. Rough idle and backfiring. Took it in and they said the catalytic converter is plugged up. I've got a new one ordered so hopefully that cures it.

Have them check to see if the manifold is cracked. That somimes plugs the cat
