Custom shift linkage: probably could be done for minimal price with Junkyard parts.

The aussie gears at 1100 arent so bad. Maybe if you just put in the 231 with the stock gearing (2.7 to 1?)and SYE, wheel it like that first it would lighten the blow on the pocket book a little. You could always add the 4 to 1 kit at a later time. The Stock 231 would give a nice reduction over stock. If you could find a used case with the SYE already installed that would be the most cost effective, still taking into account the custom driveshafts.

Just things to consider. To get to the real serious mods it int cheap.
