Yes, however, reportedly it varies between trucks. I don't remember who it was, but one person had to have theirs shortened by .75", another by .80". Mine had to be shortened by 1.5".

Back on topic, as I mentioned above, the 2.85 gears are quite effective and ARE real crawler gears. Whenever I'm out trailing with local Jeeps, I'm usually crawling along at the same pace as those with modified crawl-ratios. Haven't had to brake or de-clutch for any of them when I'm behind 'em. As I've said before, in light of the vast amount of performance mods I've done to my truck, I consider these gears to be the best mod among them.
