talk with your local carriers like abf, saia, roadway, blah, blah. if theyve got space on a truck, and its going there anyways... you can normally negotiate a pretty good rate. even without negotiating the rate will be far better than ups, fedex or our rich uncles postal service. and to top it off, most of the packaging rules dont apply... you wouldnt believe how ive seen things ship.
