Need a Spot
I just bought a 51 willys, couldn't beat the price. Are there any Willys experts out there who may be able to help me out. Also if you know anything about the buick 225 V6 any input would help. Heck I don't even know if its a CJ-3 or CJ-5 or even a CJ!!!

Assuming that your 1951 Willys is a Universal, not a pickup or station wagon, it is a CJ-3A. It was made from 1949 to 1953. The previous model was the CJ-2A. The CJ-3A was succeeded in 1952/1953 by the CJ-3B. The military version was the M-38.

If original, it should have a 4-cylinder L-head engine. The later CJ-3B was developed to contain a slightly larger 4-cylinder F-head engine.

You might want to visit the following web site for more info: http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/CJ4Prototypes.html

Good luck with your new acquisition.

1977 CJ-7, fiberglass body, AMC 360 w/ headers, DUI ignition, Edelbrock intake and Holley 4150 carb, TF999, Dana 300, 4.56 gears lockers, York air comp, 4" susp lift, 2" body lift, BFG 35" M-T tires, Megashifter, AGR pump & box, REP8000 winch.

I guess it would be a CJ-3a then. It came with a buick 225 3.7L v-6, but for the most part the rest is stock. Has the transfer case with the brake drum etc.
Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the club. Nice having the Buick in there, that probably means the previous owner changed a few other things as well. What do you plan to do with it?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I got a 46 cj2 with the 225 v6, when you buy parts remember its basical the same motor as the buick 231 v6, a lot of parts interchange.

Jeep doesn't have a tech database for you guys? With Yotas, for $10 you can download any Toyota FSM after 1990, to include TSBs and recalls. Weird.

I don't get that any GM stuff has that kind of thing out there either..

You have a machine in front of you; go for it.

LINKY Few things out there.

Well, you gotta remember that neither of the two companies that made CJ5's are still in business. One's been gone for about 20 years, and the other's been gone for about 40 years.

That's why I like a Willys. I'm just a little surprised no one has pdf'd and hosted their books anywhere that I could see. Lots of that over at POR.

I've posted that Bedford Library link for you guys here more than once; Autozone has a few references too.

Also try

www.books4cars.com
www.gearheadcafe.com

google 'automotive service manuals'
