I have a cj7 that has a factory dana 44(detroit) in the rear and a dan44(arb) from a scout in the front. I recieved a set of standard thick 4.56 gears to replace the 3.54 gears but have been told they wont work. I am not interested in replacing the lockers. does anyone know how much difference there is in the thick and standard cut gears? and has anyone ever used a ringgear spacer in these applications?

Yukon sells a Special "thick gear" to solve your problem, carrier breaks would otherwise prevent installing a "standard" 4.10 and up onto a carrier designed for 3.73 and down. There is no "standard" thick gear, the only "thick gear" is designed to cross carrier breaks.
In your case the extra cost of the special thick gear is worth every penny, due to the alternative of having to replace both lockers.

These "thick" gears are not avialable in tons of applications and ratios, Low pinion D44 is one that allows for a good selection.
