I wait tables and a guy gave me a generous tip for a recipe for homemade Marshmellows. My mom makes them every year for christmas and figured nothing better on the trail than smores. (<img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />)and beer

Marshmellows
2 c. Sugar
1/2 c. corn syrup(cheap stuff works just as well)
1/2 c. Hot water
2 egg whites
4 tablespoons. granulated gelatin
1/4 c. cold water
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 c. powdered sugar (for pan)

Soak gelatin in cold water. Put sugar, syrup and hot water in saucepan on medium heat. Stir till sugar is dissolved and cook to 249 degrees. Remove heat and add gelatin. Add vanilla and pour into well beaten egg whites while slowly beating. (note: do not let any yolk into whites this will ruin the whole batch) Beat vigorously until stiff 10-15 mins. In a pregreased pan(crisco) or powder sugar coated pan. Crisco works best and top with powdered sugar. Allow to cool for a few hours or overnight for best results. Cut marshmellows into cubes and toss into powdered sugar and enjoy.

Flavor can also be added like mint oil

These things are insane. I know a mellow is a mellow but these things could make burnt plastic taste good.
