Likely not, as the 3.0 didn't show up until 88 in our rigs, so you'll be looking at fabbing your engine mounts to start.

A couple 3.0 to 3.4 links. I've consolidated some info, but we haven't gone live with it yet. Yes, ORS makes the kit; $$$$$

linky 1

linky 2

Also, BigMike did a 2.7L swap into his 1st gen rig over on Marlincrawler. Has the same ponies as the 3.0 at 150 hp; the next 4 banger after the 22Rx.

Use the 3.0 FSM in the sticky here, and one of the FSMs over in the Taco section for the 3.4 or 2.7 if you go for it.

Edit: Here's what ORS has on the subject:

What are you looking for exactly Corey? Doesnt ORS make a standalone harness kit? why not just use that?
Or are you talking about mounts and stuff?
Best set up for tranny/t-case would either be a r151f (22rte turbo tranny) or, a tacoma r150f tranny with a t-case out of a 88-95 5spd 4runnner/pickup.
(the newer tranny has a nice tight short shift compared to the older one, i find). and the 88-95 t-case will keep it on the correct side.

There has been at least one 3.0 swap that I know of, but it was from the old ORC mailing list, and I'm not sure it was ever finished. Skip the 3.0, though, just too much effort for too little gain.

I am running a 3.4 swap into a formerly 22RE 4Runner, with a R151 tranny. ORS did it, and did it very very well. The drive train must be moved forward about 3", and the shifter is now a homebrew snakey thing that works just fine.

If I did it again? I'd use a 3.4 and R150 complete. The modern R150s shift much better. You will need a V6 plate if you do that. Also, a 23 spline tcase input is needed no matter which option you choose.

Don't waste your time on a 3.0, it is all the work and cost of a 3.4, and relatively little benefit. The 3.4 absolutely rocks.

Corey, we've got 3-4 folks here who've done the 3.0 to 3.4 conversion themselves, so you're in a good spot once you start.

Document this one tho'-- you'd be a good candidate for a writeup for a 22Rx to a 3.4-- that's quite a leap. Send Little Joe a PM and he'll tell you what we're up to.

In case ya missed it, linky

It really shouldn't be that different then what Chilli did. The frames are pretty much the same etc. You will likely have to fab up some mounts and position the engine to make it work like he did.

The only real thing that could hang you up is hood space, I know that with a NA 3.4 you need an extra 2 inches that most people make up with a body lift, whether or not the SC adds more height is something you'll have to figure out.

If you need a custom hood I know a guy in BC that you can talk to, he's pretty good but usually backordered so be prepaired to deal with wait times and his attitude. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

Same deal as my truck.

I have seen a 3.4 in an '82, done by Irbis Offroad in Colorado. Really the same as a later truck.

The hood space can be made up by a 1" body lift and slight hood trimming, plus a Suby hood scoop. Mine really did not require any trimming nor the scoop, just the 1" BL, but what the hey.

The Front Range Off Road Fab crossmember added to the simplicity of doing this. You will need to fab, or buy custom, the motor mounts. Mike R&Rd the motor maybe 6 times to get it perfect. That was without the BL, which would make things infinitely easier.
