Just want to give Dave a big thumbs up on his RGS Front Bumpers.

I recieved mine yesterday, it is solid, well built and well laidout. I'm a machinist and have seen my share of half arsed projects and my share of top of the line quality work, Daves bumper definatly falls into the second catogory!

I swung by work at lunch today (in school again for a few months) to pick up the paint I'll be using, and showed the guys, they were fully impressed which takes some doing!

I plan on painting the bumper black after a few coats of POR-15, but after the first coat of POR-15 which is silver the bumper looks so good I may just leave it silver!

Cool, I just ordered one from Dave the other day. Can't wait till it gets here. He's going to paint it black for me, maybe I should have him hold off on painting it until I see how your's looks silver. I was also thinking about getting it powder coated instead. There's a guy not to far from me that does a great job with powder coats.

I thought about the powder coating as well but went with some POR-15 anti rust armor a Black roll bar paint. POR-15 is tricky to paint on once dry, you have to paint it when it slightly tacky but it won't rust. I went with a two-tone black and silver.

Now if only I could get the old one off!

How does it attach? and how thick is the material? Was wondering if the winch is bolted directly to the bumper also?

As soon as I can get the old bumper off I'll take more pictures then post a more informative thread, all I can say now is make sure you have plenty of penetrating oil, I spent an afternoon wrestling with the old bumper but gave up after I removed the light bar, it only took 1 1/2 hours to remove 2 bolts. So I went in and had a beer, and checked up on how to remove the bumper without first hitting a deer!

According to KIA there are 24 more bolts to remove, so I had another beer, I'll tackle this tomorrow or next weekend!


1.
Remove the two lower clips from the forward part of the left front mud guard. Grasp the lower edge of the mud guard and pull it back toward the tire. Wedge it against the tire to expose the forward part of the wheel well.

Repeat for the right side.
3.
Remove one bolt from the top of the left side of the bumper. (bolt #1)

4.
Repeat for the right side.(bolt #2)
5.
Remove one bolt from the bumper side bracket.(bolt #3)

6.
Repeat for the right side.(bolt #4)
7.
Remove three nuts to remove the left side bumper stay. (#5,6,7)
8.
Repeat for the right side.(#8,9,10)
9.
Remove two bolts from the bottom of the bumper.(#11,12)
10.
Remove one bolts from the left front-side bracket.(#13)
11.
Repeat for the right side.(#14,15,16)
12.
Remove four bolts from the left-hand bumper stay.(#17,18,19,20)
13.
Repeat for the right side.(#21,22,23,24)
14.
Remove the front bumper.

hey but that made it so much easier!

That's odd. only four nuts held my bumper assembly to frame? used take it off every weekend before playing. about 10 minutes. then I got lazy and kept it off. Oregon has no bumper law, so i won't get in trouble there.
