I got a 94 LT-1 (4.3) that I pulled from a caprice when I worked at the salvage yard. Came with 4l60, all harnesses, ECM, steering column & instrument cluster. $600 for all. 67,000 on it.

Plan: 2 months from now, we will have a house with a man cave.

On monday, I am picking up a 95 SR rear w/ compressor, trailing arms & complete front frame cut with all steering, brakes & diff.

I'll weld up the front diff & order the front hubs. Re-gasket the engine & get the Hot Cam & roller lifters. Trade the 4l60 for a 4X4 version w/ transfer case.

I'll probably put a 2" body lift w/ the rear springs & t-crank. 35's should go nice with this setup.

Doing all that work. Might as well do it right and get an ARB <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

IF I were gonna swap an LT1, it'd be a 350. That hot cam kit is gonna be massively radical in that tiny v8

That is my problem! Mine is too small to work in. The Caves here are not made for Off Road Vehicles. Have Fun

I kinda figger that I can get some good milage with the hot cam & this engine. Comes to around 265 HP 300 Lb-ft. I also pulled the engine, harness, instruments, column & trans a couple years ago. $600 for it all. I'll have the only 89 Raider w/ tilt & cruise... LOL

If I use the front axle, it's always on. I'll never go into the mud without everything locked. ARB is just too pricey for me.

I am origionally from Mass, but I got my introduction to Fl mud in the stickmarsh just west of Melbourne. 3 vehicles destroyed in 6 years.

Uhmm Hotcam is designed for 350 cubic inch motors. It's gonna idle at like 2000 rpm, and be super blap blap race car.

Yeah. I'm thinking that's going to suck.

the v-8 "W" motors weren't that great on gas either. It you're thinking about dropping it into a Montero, figure on some extra work. It's a lot longer block than the v-6 "W" motors.

Whatever you decide, post lots of pics <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
