Getting the Wheeling Fever
I can get mine to 80 mph in fourth but not in fifth.
It sits on the BFG A/T 31".
How fast does your trucks go?
I used to think that it was something seriously wrong with my truck since it didn?t rev out in 4th and 5th gear, but I read that the top speed from factory is 82 mph...wich sounds a bit slow. Oh, and mine still only gets 14 mpg, go figure
Other than that I?m rather pleased with how it runs and idles. I?ve gone through the entire engine lately...

you shouldnt be driving that truck that fast.

but to answer your question- most would do about 80-85 mph.

if you want to go fast you should buy a sports car.

Assuming 4.10 gears, that is probably about right. My '85 when I got it (w/ 30" tires) would get up to a little over 70, 4th or 5th gear. Would only hold 5th gear with no head wind or grade. With proper gearing it'll go faster than I feel comfortable driving it.

Body Damage is Cool
ive topped mine out at like 97 before but that was w/ a slight tailwind/ downhill grade lol. never want to do that again. but i can hit at least 90 on flat ground under normal conditions w/ 33's and 4.88 gears. wouldn't recommend it though.

...and all these speeds were obtained on my own private airstrip in mexico

but really, there is NO need to go above 80. although you should be able to hold 80 in fifth no problem. i've done 400 mile round trips going 75-80 mph(speed of traffic) most of the time and have gotten 22 mpg.

My 85 4Runner will hold 80 all day and hit almost 100. I did that a couple of times and see no real need to go that fast normally. I run about 65-75 and get about 25mpg on the highway.
This is with a cam and header with 4:10's and 31" BFG All Terrains.

Umm... with my 3.slow 5spd... i've hit 105mph downhill with 30's and with 33's.. i've hit 110mph with my 3.4 auto (hit the speed limiter, would keep going)
i dont suggest going over 80mph in these trucks, but they are super smooth at any speed... i just wouldnt want anyone darting infront of me.
With a stock old 22re? prob 80-85mph max.
WIth a built up 22re with arbitrarynotion or Darren... 120mph is easily feasable.

I have the need... I regularly cruise at 85-90 on the autobahn, and surpass 110 on occasion. Most areas with speed limits here vary between 60 and 80 mph, and then there are the areas without limits... Those areas will see cars cruising at 150+ mph. I'd get blown off the road (or worse, hit) going 75-80 mph during those stretches of highway.

87, 22RE, 4.10's, 31's.

Of course I need to list what's been done to facilitate this before I fluster the OP... 270/430 cam, 0.040 bore, OS valves, HV oil pump, EB water pump, steel rail timing set, gasket matched intake, and 2.25" exhaust from cat back with 50 series Flowmaster.

Exhaust is ALL the way back, as German Laws do not allow the exhaust to exit the side... Mine is squeezed between the trailer receiver bar and the bumper, bent down at a 30* angle (able to do that with a 3" BL).

I chose the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos for the rubber for their smooth ride, awesome grip on the pavement, and the fact that they are actually speed rated. Not a high speed rating, but I feel safer on a tire rated for 100 mph than a non-rated tire.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I usually dont go above 55 mph driving to work, but I thought that something was terribly wrong with an engine that tops a rather light truck at 80 mph on a slight downhill:)
Thanks for the input guys

x2...celicas are meant to go fast, not pickups. I've had mine up to 145 km/h and it was literaly shaking itself apart
