I'm finally making the jump to a taco.

I want some advice/opinions on what kind of deal i'm getting bc i don't think it's that great. I went to the dealer the other day and after two visits they're working on a deal for me (which i'm probably going to turn down). Here's the details:

2008 Tacoma Ext Cab, black, v6 6spd. SR5#2 package, with TRD cat-back exhaust.
Price $26,229 "after 500$ rebate!" lol

This is all said and done after my 3,000$ down payment, and my trade in. My trade in is a 1995 toyota pickup that they offered me 4700 for. I won't go into details but that's more than I would expect to get private party. The loan I have on it right now is at 4078.xx.

What do you guys think? Is it a good deal? I feel like it's nothing great since going to toyota.com MSRP is right around 26,500.

Those are nice trucks.. my brother has a 2007 with the 4.0 and 6 speed. I enjoyed driving it while he let me.. my 07 corolla felt dinky afterwards(always will).

As far as $$ goes.. if you want that truck then get it.. it doesn't matter what the MSRP is, you're loosing value as soon as you buy it anyway. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

i've never bought brand new before, always private party vehicles and 50,xxx or more miles. this game is new to me

It was new to me too a year ago when I had to stop driving SUVs and went to a new corolla.

Have you looked into some certfied pre-owned models or what not? You might be able to save some money.. but There is nothing like a new car the day you drive it off the lot.

i did try cert. pre-owned at one dealer but from a dealer what i'm looking for is hard to find. i'm fairly picky with what i want so new is more of an option. i can find what i want used private-party but i think im all done with that game for awhile
