If you don't haveto have it today, you could wait 6-8mos, and see how far prices come down. There are tons of cars hitting the repo lots from their own subprime fiasco, and others from home buyers who are selling off everything they can to hold out on foreclosure a little longer. This along with the slowinbg economny is going to leave dealerships very hungry, you could save $5k in just a few months.
I am not sure how many dealerships still do this, but years ago(14-19), you could buy cars at fleet costs. AAA had a listing of them for their members when I bought my '90 new, I saved $6800+ off of the sticker price, it listed for $21,800, and I got it for $15k. Yes I know it was one of those once in a lifetime deals, but you should be able to get them to come down a a lot more than your current deal. Find out what they purchased it from Toyota, and meet somewhere in the middle, also don't be afraid to pit one dealership against another, if one dealership doesn't have the color you want, they will trade w/another to get it.
All though, if the extra $340 a month isn't going to stretch your finances go for it, as mentioned everyone needs to have atleast one new ride. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

Well honestly what I was shooting for is ~350/mo but right now the deal they got me is 369/mo for SEVEN years, or 445/mo for six years. nothing too exciting. i posted up on customtacos.com too (i just started posting there since new taco owner <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ) and one of the guys there gave me some really good info. I think I'm going to hold off for a bit and do some more research first. Dude do yourself a favor, go to Edmunds.com and price the truck with the options you want. It'll give you two numbers, one is the MSRP the other is Invoice. Once you find out what the MSRP and invoice price theres a link that allows you to get offers from other dealers, fill it out, in the remarks box tell them your ready to buy ASAP if they can offer you the vehicle at invoice and send it. Chances are they'll offer you something close but it wont be at the invoice price. Take the quotes you get from the other dealers to the dealer your working with, tell him to beat the offer, if he cant than walk.
Your primary goal is not to pay more than 3% over invoice excluding taxes. Depending on how badly the dealer wants to make the deal will determine what your going to pay. I've been told it's better to go when the weather is chitty and at the end of the month. If the weather is bad the salesman will be bored and want to make you a better deal, same goes with the time of the month, if their having a slow month they'll be more likely to give you a better deal. What the dealership likes to do is have you sit there forever to make a deal. They figure the longer you sit there the more impatient you'll get, the more impatient you get the more likely you'll take whatever they offer, don't fall into that trap. The key to all this is patients and timing, buying a vehicle and getting a good deal takes time.
Before I forget Toyota's offering a rebate of between $500.00 and $1000.00 and 0% to 2.9% financing depending on the truck you get and the length of time you finance it for. DON'T let the dealer screw you out of that, if they can they will.

Let us know how things work out.
B~ edit: hm, none of the links in the quote worked. well if you guys are interested here's the thread: http://customtacos.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1302673

Unlike Scerb and Margie, I'll be your advocate. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" /> Using this... linky , and assuming you want an extended cab and TRD Off Road pkg. I came up with a msrp of $27550 with a price to start negotiating from of $26475 in Burlington. Seeing that they "supposedly" gave you $4700 for your truck, which in reality they didnt, you would be at around $23000. You always take a beating on a trade in so I would try to sell it on your own, then use the $26475 to start negotiations. Another tip is to use the link for pricing and get internet pricing quotes through local dealers. You will often get better quotes because their internet salesperson supposedly operates on a lower commission and depends on volume. This is called a "mini deal" in the new car business. Yeah they will claim that they're only making $50 on the sale but thats alot of bull. The best thing that you can do is to go in there informed with print outs with prices. Also they will try to deal in terms of monthly payments instead of final total cost. Deal with total cost and break down the payments after a price is agreed upon. More good info.. link link . Good luck, go get em! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Might want to check out Costco/Sams Club. I know that you can buy a car through them, at certain dealerships, Most I think. IIRC they don't make you pay for delivery, this that and the other stuff as long as you are a member. For a $50 membership, it may save you a grand later. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Worth checking into at least

I got a quote from the SAME dealer that was MUCH less by doing an online price quote request. I'll have to check out those links too and get some more info to add to my "dealer portfolio" hehe Also, yeah i realize now that the trade in price or w/e they gave me was complete BS. basically what I found after haggling them some more about it was my truck is worth about 2k to them but they told me the trade in was more and then jacked the price a bit more to make it seem like they're working for me more or w/e. Well they didn't tell me the last part i just deduced that on my own <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> thanks for the replies guys. like i said im new at this game so all the advice is greatly appreciated. I'll get the montly payments i want soon enough ( i hope <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> )

My wife is evil when it comes to buying cars, she can make veteran salesman cry. When we bought the RAV4 new they offered a stripped version for 450 a month. That was at 1pm. At 11:59 pm that night we drove away with a fully loaded for $319
First you start at MSRP then work down from there. Don't believe any BS about "our cost" that is total crap. You already have a truck so don't be afraid to just drive off and say your going to look on the internet. Always buy a few days before the end of the month, in the middle of winter when there starving for a sale <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

Seeing theres less sales in the winter, they technically should be able to give you a better price to make a sale. I bought my truck in the winter and found this wasnt true and believe me I had a pile of internet printouts and Im kinda mean when dealing with salesmen. Mine was a used truck though with just 18k on the dial.
