I got a buddy whose sales manager at a Yoter shop back home. If you give me the VIN, he can tell me how much that dealership paid for that particular unit, provided that its a new vehicle and a Toyota dealer.

2008 Tacoma Ext Cab, black, v6 6spd. SR5#2 package, with TRD cat-back exhaust.
Price $26,229 "after 500$ rebate!" lol

You would be overpaying major $$$$ You can buy it with TRD off-road package for less.
Try this web-site http://www.carsdirect.com/home
Another option if you leave on east coast. Although for few $$$$ might worth traveling to this place and to it pick up even double cab for less Double Cab SR5 $23615
Check out their inventory. Everything is very straight forward http://www.fitzmall.com/carfind/search.asp?lstMake=TOYOTA Prices are very good.
Or just take this price to your dealer I'm sure they can do something about it.

I've been told by a recently former dealership owner the best place to start when buying a vehicle is the web. Get your quote there, Then visit the stealership. If you talk to a sales man, then they have to pay him a commission.

well.. after taking some advice i got some internet quotes and actually got the dealer themselves to give me a quote online through edmunds.com... lower than the quote i originally got.
The general sales manager was all up in arms and (im not sure if he was pretending or not) but was acting all pissed off that the "internet salesperson" gave me a quote below invoice. They even showed me the invoice. They gave me a quote 500 below invoice.

The GSM also showed me a list that he told me was "confidential" (lol right) of how much they're allowed to sell vehicles for over invoice. The number for access cab v6 tacoma was 300 over invoice.

The new price i got quoted was $23,980. Invoice was 24,480.
They gave me the *actual* trade-in value of 3000 even. The loan I have has got 4100 left on it so i've got equity of -1100. Then I'm probably gonna put down 4k so I'm looking at 24,480 - 2900 down = 21580. After taxes and all that other sh*t (i also got the Auto Armor rust-proofing, i live in VT don't hate on me too much) it ended up being 23116 that i'd need to borrow.

Not too shabby for 4k down and a 4k loan.

I'm going to take this quote now, though.. the 23,980, and call some other dealers to see if they can beat it. If i haggle another 700 dollars somewhere... either putting another 700 down (which i don't have) or get more for my trade-in or get less of a price then i can get the payment of 350/mo that i wanted (yay!).

From the sounds though.. the dealer GSM was pretty pissed that i got that price anyways. I'm not sure if it was an act bc he didn't want to sell it that cheap or if it was legit and he really was pissed about the bad quote. They asked me to send them the e-mail so they could follow up w/ the person who quoted me

Anywho... the game goes on!

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Chris,
Its all an act. The general sales managers are all aware of the internet sales quotes. They're just throwing fake fits to discourage future internet sales which cut into their traditional good ole boys salesman sleazy deals. Shop around and go with the best quote. Dont forget about the Albany/W.Springfield areas. Were rootin for ya here and enjoy your ripping apart the stealers! Go with the best deal and keep us informed so we can salivate vicarously through ya!

The invoice he showed you...its like running a business...you got the set of books you actually run the business with, then a different set that you show the IRS.

lol so shady! They really are (sorry if there's any car salesmen/women here) the bottomfeeders of the sales world.

Probably the final update until I go buy it ....

I called around.. there's 6 toyota dealers in my state, one of which has the truck i drove. Of the other 5....

1 laughed at me and said no way i can beat that price

1 was being really stubborn and trying to make me come down and drive one of his and wouldn't give me a quote (O.o)

1 said he didn't want to sell me a truck because he thinks im way better off going local (very good advice). This guy was my favorite. Totally honest. He looked up my dealer's stock number and whatnot and told me that at the price they're offering me... i should go down there right now and buy it and say thank you. hahaha. He said he's obviously not going to turn me away but if anything he might match their price, probably not beat it. and that doesn't do anything for me being 3+ hrs away.

1 offered me a price *very* close to mine but i gave him mine and he didn't try very hard to beat it.

and the last one said he'd do some research and call me back.

As it stands right now... I think I'm going to go back to my dealer today and see if I can bring it home. I think I'm getting a pretty decent deal.

$23,980 after rebate it is.

Maybe i can weasel a 100 or two more for my trade-in. Probably not. Boy I wish that $600 US economy stimulate check would arrive a month or two early
