This is an awesome invention! Allmost like a Nascar inner tire these are liners that push against the beads of the tire to keep them from breaking any beads. Just installed them tonight for the/my Miss Treated Tacoma. This took 1 1/2 hours to mount 4 38.5 Boggers 3 guys & the proper equiptment & knowlage. Check em out @ www.staun.com for more info = BTW they are cheaper than external beadlock rims.
Why go around? When You can go over!

i have actually been looking at getting these for the new tires and wheels. as beadlocks are illegal for street use here, probably in most places i am guessing, these would be the perfect solution, especially since it locks both beads not just one

I've had them for the last 3 years, and would absolutely agree they are the bees knees.
Keep them pumped up to 45 PSI, and leave the tire at something like 8-16 psi (lower if you need to) with no risk of popping a bead on the outside OR inside (one up on mechanical bead locks...). Great for snow/mud/rocks. One interesting aside is that it only takes half the time to air back up due to the volume of air the Staun tubes take up in the tire. This also means you are more likely to run the correct pressures for the terrain you are on.

Gary,
Is that to the Sunnies you have on your Sportage or have you gone to some other rims? Have you got any further with your mods?? How do you find your chip??
Cheers, Chris Not much further at the moment with the mods (money and time issues), but still have the Commodore V6/auto/Hilux tcase. The Stauns are on the sunnies. Chip is well worth it (but if you want to wait a bit..... ) Adds a noticeable 10% to power/torque at the same revs as original, ie still a bit "peaky".

Wow those Stauns look like a great invention, do tire stores know what to do with them though?
I would get some if they weren't so darn expensive, wow... seems like they could come down just a little on that price...
2002 Sportage 4dr 4x4 soon to undergo an Extreme Makeover!

I already have the 98 chip. I found it has made the Sportage a lot smoother and able to lug down in gears and still pull away smoothly. I can drop down to 45 km in 5th and still pull away without hesitation. Doesn't apear to have made a difference to fuel economy though(bugger). I still have to put in the K&N filter as well as extractors and exhauast. Hopefully will see some significant gains and improvement of economy then Gary, Will you still be looking at fitting up the V6 or just sassing the the front end?? Cheers, Chris
