I could/would do the same, it's more an issue of the extra loot! Rebuilding these things is certainly not cheap. I'll pay for anyones shipping of spares for "the cause" though!

In a nutshell, the goal is to throw away the old defective plenum and buy a different 40 dollar or so plenum from another, slap it on and maintain Hp and Torque.
Simply removing the butterflies must reduce HP.
