Christine: "What's wrong with the car?" Chris: "Nothing."
this is were you went wrong! clearly you should have said, honey i have noticed that truck has been getting an excessive amount of body roll through corners , so i need to install these spring dampeners(ie dennis thompson spacers) to help with that. then rite off the get go she would have thought it was for her safety and wouldnt have known the better!

I know my sportage rode way more stable after I lifted it. Less body roll etc.
However what DID make it feel a little less stable is when I put 31" tires on the stock 15x6 rims. I could feel the tires flex laterally a little when cornering. Kinda made it feel a bit "squishy" going around corners, it was disturbing the first time I took it on the highway, but I drove it like that for a couple years so I guess it was OK.
I guess most of you go with wider rims (7" or 8") when you get new tires so that should fix the problem (mostly).

You guys crack me up! If I've learned anything during my life it's you have to pick your battles. damn straight, and this woulda been civil war. no woman tells a man what he can and can't do about his car/truck. these are our chariots. we ride them into battle, we explore the world, and we conquer it from the driver's seat. you take a man's machine away, you might as well castrate him.

Guess I'm the lucky one on this forum...my wife likes the big tires and the lift, she thinks it is great that I can use it hunting, she makes sure I watch the NASCAR races with her (along with F1, NHRA, Outlaws, SCORE, and anything else that is on SPEED Channel). Going on 14 years of marriage and haven't had a big argument yet!! EVERET <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

FOR SALE:
Complete future wife (includes)
2 - legs nearly no miles on them (taken off at the dealer)
2 - runners (New in the box w/ hardware)
2 - pregnant belly Sway bar
2 - UPYOURKIA Front bra cups
(all of the parts are NEW and never installed)
I want to sell the wife as a whole, $200 plus shipping, but if no one is interested I will consider selling the parts seperately. $200 is about $50 less than what I bought her for so someone will be getting a pretty good deal, but I don't want to fight with my finances anymore.
PM me if interested.
Thanks, Chris Eichman

Dude! Just go out and install the stuff! When she asks what you are doing Quote the following:
"Honey, I'm installing a few safety devices, Upgraded shocks from Toyota, we all know how safe they are, New springs to smooth out the ride, and some spacers to allow the Kia's Center of Gravity to be changed making it more stable, and less prone to roll-overs, I'm only doing this for YOU, cause I want YOU to be safe!"

I get to do whatever I want with our cars since I'm the one who pays for them. My wife loves to drive the Sporty and has been bugging me to lift her Cherokee ever since she saw what I did to mine.

I've learned after 25 years of mariage you have to give in on somethings. Our Sportage was my wifes and now she won't drive it unless she has to. Not for safty reasons but she thinks it looks like a teenagers car and she hates it when people laugh at it also. But when I sold my Jeep (that I bought on the asumption that forgivness is easier than permission) She let me do what I wanted to the Kia to use for Search and rescue. So I gave in on the Jeep but now I have a LIFTED Kia.
