Don't know if you can get it shipped there, but AutoRX is pretty much known world wide as a universal treatment for cleaning engines and getting out crap and long-term buildup from engines.

You have to do it in stages (cleaning, rinse, etc) and it would be about $40 for you application, but my 3.5 had the noisy lifter due the crappy, small Mitsu designed lifters that plug-up with even the smallest of particulates, and after a 2500mile rinse session with AutoRX, it's been quiet since.

If you really want the best site on the web for oils, etc, look up "bob is the oil guy"

Great stuff, but yea, my 3.5 had that as well.

I found other than thickening the oil or cleaning the passages, those additives are almost all the same. Lucas, STP, Generic, they all are temp fixes at best. I would say the most long term solution would be to clean the good ones and replace the bad ones. I am looking at about $135 from advance auto to replace mine. I would replace the ones in the Montero, but thats getting a gen3 3.8 anyways.

That oil is way too thick unless it is just wicked hot where you are. Try running Mobile 1 Synth 10w40. This oil has very good detergent properties and a high enough sheer strength that running thinner oil won't cause damage.

He's in Bahrain... that's wicked hot!

They also make a high mileage version of the mobil1 10w-40 that might be good for you
