Need a Spot

Ok now I think I have a problem, I checked over the electrical system for the fuel pump and I'm getting 12V at the connector without any issues and when I remove the fuel line from the filter and turn the engine I don't get any fuel coming out. So the fuel pump looks a little suspect.
Having nothing better to do I decided to remove the fuel pump and try and power it on the bench but after I removed the cover under the back seat I find that the fuel pump is actually further forward than the inspection hatch (if you look directly into the hatch you can only see about 1-2 inches of the top of the fuel pump and it also doesn't have any screws on top of it. It's a plastic top with a series of grip points on it that almost looks like it should unscrew but it won't unscrew by hand and I'm a little hestitant to start getting aggressive with it until I know it can be unscrewed.
Has anyone come across this before?
(BTW long body version)
Cheers
Andrew
