I recently removed my (+) battery terminal to clean some minor corrosion and apply some anti-corrosion gel.
Next time I tried to start it - nothing. All accessories work fine, and in the on position I get dash lights, etc. - everything seems ok, but I get nothing from the starter.
I found a blown 25A fuse right beside (not in) the fuse box under the hood. Replaced that, no change.
There's an aftermarket remote starting system which has worked fine in the past, but Tech Support said battery removal should have no effect on the system.
Another possibility - about the time the no start condition showed up - I had been soaking the exh man and downpipe bolts with pb blaster on the pass side. It took quite a bit of maneuvering the can to get the stinger where it needed to be -- could I have broken a wire loose in that area that would disable the starter?? (Just a shot in the dark)
Also - opening the door and/or attempting either type of start (conventional/remote) causes the parking lights to flash 30x (this has not been the case in the past). I have no idea what that's all about. The remote start unit also has remote door lock/unlock, and using those features can effect the lights, but they typically just flash once or twice and that's it. They do stay on for 30 sec after remote unlock, but the flashing 30x is not normal. Tech support did not know what that was about either.
I'm beginning if I'm going to have to tow it to the dealer because I disconnected the freaking battery!!! And I consider myself a "FAIRLY" capable home mechanic?!

Leave well enough alone next time Does the starter click, or is there nothing? You didn't really state anything concerning that.

I run scared from aftermarket Auto starts, more shortcuts and wires damaged from them doing it the easiest and fastest way, usually start showing up 4 years after the install and 3 1/2 years after the warranty- you already found out how good their tech support is- wouldn't surprise me to find out you were talking to an attorney! Me, I would slowly start removing all the speed clips and other connectors one by one, repairing wires as I go until it is totally removed and back to factory or at least servicable condition.(after disconnecting battery).Next worse installers are car stereo shops- big chains, (bogus buy). Most high end installers are like Frank and his wiring- well thought out and bulletproof. That's my 2cents worth anyway.

I woul agree.....to some effect that kit of yours is the problem. Ive never heard any good coming of those over time. Though preaching doesn't solve the problem. You have any electrical shops near your house? Thats my first bit of advice.
Otherwise, I'd do a quick wire-up to the starter and on the free end hit that battery terminal and see if it turns the starter over. I doubt you have a starter problem and its probably the kit, but this would rule out a bad starter. On a plus note it would get you mobile somewhere to get it looked at and fixed. Hope that helps, I don't know if anyone else has anything better to say.

I did some looking last night.
I traced the starter kill wire from the remote start unit - it's not even connected.
The lights that flash repeatedly is acutally the FACTORY ALARM going off - the siren had been disconnected which is why I wasn't able to recognize immediately what the flashing lights meant.
The starter lockout is clearly a function of the Mitsubishi Security System. I was told by Joel,CA (fmr mitsu tech, used to be a contributor here - that there's supposed to be an LED button that will over-ride the alarm. Tried it - no go there either.
This has turned into a serious headache.
It's been towed to the local import electric shop. I can't wait for the bill!!

1st shop didn't know - said it might be the ECU.
They recommended a 2nd auto electric shop that is the apparent local authority.
So I had it towed a 2nd time. In about a half hour of receiving it I got a call back. It just had to go through a reset sequence --- 1) key on 2) disconnect batt - let sit a few minutes 3) connect battery 4) lock all doors 5) unlock doors
$32 - all is well

Very nice, I'd remember that sequence if I were you. Or more importantly disable the damn thing!

Interesting that the Auto Start tech service couldn't supply that info! Aren't they supposed to have / use the factory data also?
