I woul agree.....to some effect that kit of yours is the problem. Ive never heard any good coming of those over time. Though preaching doesn't solve the problem. You have any electrical shops near your house? Thats my first bit of advice.

Otherwise, I'd do a quick wire-up to the starter and on the free end hit that battery terminal and see if it turns the starter over. I doubt you have a starter problem and its probably the kit, but this would rule out a bad starter. On a plus note it would get you mobile somewhere to get it looked at and fixed.
