Hey guys, How in the world do you guys get to the top two trans to engine bolts (bellhousing bolts) on a 3.5 Gen 2. I wouldn't think that an elf could fit his hands up behind the motor between the firewall and the block. I was planning on having the motor out of my donor SR today, but I am almost ready to take the torch out and do some cutting (please don't let that happen). I have unbolted the motor mounts from the block in order to allow the engine to drop down a little, but that ony gave me about 1/2 an inch. What's the trick here? On most vehicles like this there is an access cover that you unbolt from inside the cab that allows you to access these bolts, but I sure don't see one on the Monty. HELP!!!!!! My wife is ready to drive her SR for the first time, and I am ready to sell the Navigator that it is replacing (pay off some bills ). Any ideas... Thanks Cole

I reached 'em by stooping over the engine and reaching down from above with a box end wrench. Wear gloves.

I will go out and give it a try. I am pretty sure I can get the passenger side like that, but the driver side doesn't even look like it has room to get a wrench in there, let alone a big paw like mine (my hands are pretty big . Anyway, I'll go give it a try. If that doesn't work any other ideas???

I've never pulled the whole block out, but when I took the heads off, they are sitting right there...
Otherwise, I couldn't imagine what a pain in the arse it must be to get to... but then again.....
Almost everything designed on the 2nd Gen 3.5 is
Pull the heads off first if you can.

At least take the intake off. I used long extensions for the drivers side, I think. Box on the pax side. I did not particularly like that portion of the job.

If you can't reach it, then perhaps you could R&R the engine and tranny then put the tranny back. CAP510 might have more insight since he's been all over this with his 95/94SR.
