Okay, nothing is wrong with the Aussie gears, I'm just missing the components necessary to set up the backlash eliminator since they weren't installed on my original gear. The FSM doesn't show them, but CAPS does.

I've got a couple of choices. One, I could just get the spacer 30086SG, and not run the backlash eliminator. Or just use the snap ring I installed in place of the spacer because it's serving the same purpose--to properly space the bearing.

Two, I could also get the snap ring 30093SE and sub gear spring 30368, and take a chance that I would set it up the backlash eliminator right. Looks pretty simple--from the drawing it looks like the backlash eliminator goes first, then the spring, then the snap ring into that center groove, then the spacer, then the bearing, then the selectable snap ring.

I like option two. If the parts are still available.
