I imagine the U joints on your rear shaft are indexed so they are in phase?

Yes, it looks to be good. Good call! I hadn't even thought about that yet. Its freezing out right now so I will take a closer look tomorrow and make sure it isn't off even a spline or two. No advice from anyone on the tires I listed? I'm leaning towards the SSR's, but always like input.

Junkie I have an offroad rule... I NEVER go offroad without good low milage mud terrains on my vehicle! Period! So my advice is go with the loudest most aggresive MT's you can find. Most if not ALL allterrains are little better offroad than standard street tires. I want huge spaces between the lugs so they pick up lots of mud and throw it out on every revolution..

Thanks for the quick reply. I went with the bias tsl's and I have regreted it everyday on the street. Great offroad, terrible on the street. I have someone who wants these tires so I am looking at a little trade off b/t on and offroad. This is why I'm leaning towards the ssr's. I have read up a lot from many different forums before I buy this time. I have had several (probably 5 sets) of tsl bias ply tires and these by far have been the worst riding. Better after they warm up, but tough getting there. Maybe I'm getting old.

Not because I run them, but the Mickey Thompsons I am running are great on and offroad. Wet or dry or through the snow. The Baha MTZ's are great, and clean themselves really well in the mud and snow. I run 35's and they are not too noisy, but I can only amagine the noise level being lower on 33's, they could be a great pick for all around tires. When I find out the life span of the new compound, if good, I will probly stick to the Mickey Tire line. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

From the BTDT box....

Go to an all-terrain tread. I have been running MTs on my YJ and am not impressed with the overall tire wear/performance issue.

I am going back to all-terrains within the month just because of overall performance (i.e. less vibration due to better tire wear patterns).

I have a set of 35 12.5 SSR's on my 79 F150, and I love them. They run quieter than the Wild Countries I had on there, and they seem to be wearing good, the truck is not a daily driver anymore though, but it was for a few years. They work awesome in snow and on ice, I never even have to use 4 wheel drive on the road, even through the New England winters here. The only thing I would caution you on is to look at the actual size of the tire (swamper publishes this data), because the TSL series you are use to, I believe a 35 actually measures 35.9" and with the SSR they measure closer to a true 35" tire, or something to that effect, just double check before you actually decide on a size.

I'd second that for the SSR's. The BFG MT's and Firestone Dueler MT's are also both good options if you want a tire with good lug spacing and better wearing though. I wouldn't trade out my SSR's, but they do wear on the street...Not super fast, but my daily commute is only bout 10 min. each way too. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well the 37" SSR's showed up at my work today. Hopefully get them on Saturday. Also ordered up Tom Wood's shafts for the front and rear (CV). I needed a front so I figured I would get the a rear while I had a few extra bucks. Got spares now. Will let you know how the SSR's ride compared to the bias plys they are replacing.
